Hossein Ronaghi Maleki in deteriorating health due to his medication being confiscated

The health of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, jailed political prisoner in Ward 350 of Evin prison, is deteriorating due to his mediation being withheld by officials of the prison facility.

According to the Kaleme website, the human rights activist who had been on medical furlough turned himself in at Evin prison on Tuesday May 21st after the ruling apparatus ordered him to return to prison due to the upcoming presidential elections. Since his return to prison, Ronaghi Maleki has not had access to his needed medication.

When Ronaghi Maleki entered Evin prison, all his personal belongings including his medication were confiscated despite the fact that due to his illness and low kidney function, prostate inflammation and bladder ailment, it is imperative that he takes his medication on a daily basis.

The blogger underwent surgery a few weeks ago at Tehran’s Hasheminejad Hospital where after extensive efforts on the part of his surgeons, his left kidney function reached 17% and his right kidney function reached 83%.  However now after his return behind bars and his inaccessibility to his needed medication, his health is rapidly deteriorating.
